Every November I spend hours working on my business plan for the coming year. I look at how things went in the current year and plan for growth in the next. I’m pleased to announce that The Sharyn Younger Team had a great 2017, having sold 30 homes and sourcing 90% of our business through referral. A great big thank you to those of you who trusted your family and friends real estate needs to our team. My current business planning turned up the following observation: I have three times as many potential buyers in 2018 than sellers! I’d be willing to bet that many in my industry are seeing a similar trend. This leads me to believe that the on-going inventory shortage will continue through at least the first half of the new year. If you are considering selling your home, don’t delay. Everything is cyclical and eventually, the sellers market we are seeing will abate.

To be a seller in a sellers market means the following:

  • Your home will likely sell more quickly and for a higher dollar amount than in a buyers market
  • You may have to put less into the home in order to sell it
  • You don’t have to leave money on the table using a service like Open Door or Offer Pad who will purchase your home for well under market value
  • You don’t have to sacrifice money for convenience
  • Your Realtor can be more creative in structuring counter offers to meet your needs

Of course each scenario is dependent on a number of variables including price point, location, and property condition. Regardless of your situation, if you are considering selling your home, don’t delay in having a conversation about what’s happening in your neck of the woods.
