Homes for Sale in Gilbert

The town of Gilbert is one of the most rapidly growing of the Phoenix metropolitan suburbs. It lies the east of Phoenix and is bordered by Chandler, Mesa and Queen Creek. The approximately 217,000 residents that call Gilbert home are spread over 76 square miles. The town incorporated in 1920 and evolved from an agricultural based community known as the “Hay shipping capital of the world” to a fast growing, economically diverse suburban center. It is now marketed as having a “hometown feel with big city appeal”.  It maintains it’s agricultural flavor with ranches and horse properties spread among the newer master planned communities throughout the town. The Islands of Gilbert, a beautiful lake community has been a crown jewel of the more modern Gilbert housing over the past 25 years. Homes can be found priced from as low as $100,000 up to some luxury properties listed at $2,000,000.

In 1912, many Mormons fleeing Pancho Villas Mexican forces, settled in Gilbert. In 2014, a new Mormon Temple, one of just 6 in the state, was dedicated and opened temporarily to the community for touring. Other attractions include the Gilbert Heritage District which offers shopping, dining and entertainment options in an old town community; the Gilbert Riparian Preserve, an often modeled state of the art dog park, and easy access to the larger cities of Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe and Scottsdale. Gilbert families are served primarily by the Gilbert Public School District. To find out more about Gilbert schools, click here:
