3114 E Verbena: Ahwatukee home for sale

Verbena (78)3114 E Verbena is a home that has been well loved and well cared for since it’s first days in Mountain Park Ranch, Ahwatukee. Originally purchased as a new build by a lovely couple, it’s spaciousness was a key attribute as they planned to have frequent out of town family visitors, and wanted to give those visitors a resort-like experience. The backyard was designed with just that in mind, boasting a large pool complete with water feature, surrounded by comfy lounge chairs, decorative umbrellas, and eventually, an outdoor projection system that could play movies on a large inflatable screen. Many summer hours have been spent by adults and children floating in the pool while watching family movies.

For winter visitors, an enormous family room with fireplace and plenty of room for relaxing has provided a welcome setting. And with two bedrooms on the bottom floor of this tri-level home, guests have had lots of space to spread out. This has been a family gathering place, filled with warmth and love and laughter. When the couple welcomed their child to the family, this home was the perfect place to raise him, with award winning Kyrene schools conveniently nearby, and parks, walking trails and  playgrounds throughout Mountain Park Ranch. They found a wonderful network of neighbors and celebrated many Halloweens, Memorial Days,  and Fourth of July’s, celebrating as a community.

The kitchen of this home is truly the heart of the house, and has kept pace with the times, going from laminate to granite counters, getting crown molding additions to the cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances, providing a fresh, up-do-date feel. The original skylights continue to add a brightness to the space, and the huge sliding door brings the outdoors in. The convenience of entertaining is an amazing feature of this home as the kitchen is situated just a few steps above the family room, and has great access to the lovely yard.

Given the over-sized family room, the living room space has been used as a library. Gorgeous dark stained built in bookcases were added to a long wall, creating the feel of a traditional English library. A few over-stuffed chairs and sofa’s and plenty of light coming through the arched bay window provide a wonderful place to relax and read. Being in the front of the home, it’s situated far enough away from the family room and kitchen to feel like a separate, quiet space in which to allow oneself to be absorbed in a great book. Just above the sunken living room, is a formal dining room, used mostly by this family on holidays and special occasions.

The master bedroom upstairs is actually two rooms. The attached retreat has an entrance into the master, as well as out into the hallway, creating a wonderfully convenient space that could be used as an office, nursery, sitting room, or even a 5th bedroom, although there is no closet. In addition to all that space, the master bathroom is huge with an oversized jetted tub and a large walk-in closet. The other upstairs bedroom is the size of many master bedrooms in other homes. In order to fit the queen sized four poster bed and full size electric fireplace, among other pieces of furniture, it certainly needed to be a nice sized room! It’s a room that has seen its only occupant grow from child to adult.

Throughout the home, extras abound. Beautiful plantation shutters in every room; designer light fixtures, crown molding and large baseboards, and quiet high end laminate flooring that is easy to mistake for natural dark wood,  provide an elegance to the home that shows the care that has gone into it over the years.

As families grow and change, needs and wants change as well.  A house this large is no longer optimum for this family and they are ready to downsize to a smaller home. That presents a wonderful opportunity for another family to continue the story of this home. Come on by and take a tour. You will feel the loving history and know that your family can experience the same joy, closeness, and quality lifestyle that has been the experience of this home since the front door was opened for the first time.
